Amy: Northside Women’s Specialists (NWS) midwifery group was established in 1993 with two dedicated CNMs including Judy Fielder. The practice quickly grew to a group of four full-time midwives and remains one of the oldest midwifery groups at Northside Hospital. As a group we strive at being one of the premier midwifery practices in the Atlanta area providing full-scope midwifery care.
To this end we are committed to practicing evidenced based care with minimal and judicious use of interventions. We believe all our mothers to be deserve the opportunity to have a midwife be part of their care.
Our group always aspires to provide the best care possible with the best outcomes. In order to do this we maintain monthly statistics on our primary c-section rate which ranges from 15%-20%, inductions, episiotomies (<5%), as well as VBACs. We are also starting quality improvement projects this year, with our first project focusing on the use of interventions like AROM and pitocin in the labors of nulliparous women.
Our CNMs share the philosophies held by American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM) including individualized patient centered care. We encourage all of our mothers to-be to educate themselves about childbirth and have many success stories with methods such as Hypnobirthing, Confident Childbirth, Lamaze, as well as other alternative methods for pain management.
Like some other midwifery practices in GA, Northside Women’s Specialists has regular ‘Meet the Midwife’ meetings for current and potential clients/family. Their next meeting will be held at their Northside office location (980 Johnson Ferry Rd, Suite 620, Atlanta GA 30342) on January 29, 2015 at 6:30pm. Hors d-oeuvres will be served, RSVP by calling 404-255-2057.
