Scholarship Opportunities
PURPOSE:
The GA Affiliate of ACNM Scholarships are awarded to midwifery students to increase engagement and enhance the voice of Black, Indinenous, Latinex and students of color. This will enable recipients to see their professional organization at work, participate in continuing education and be a part of the ACNM community and leadership. The affiliate supports attendance to the annual meeting, participation on committees, and communication among professional groups to increase the number, quality and diversity of leaders within the affiliate. All applicants are judged on academic excellence, financial need and leadership potential criteria.
AWARD AMOUNT: $750.00 each (total of 2 awards will be given)
AWARD TYPE:
Two awards available to student midwives, priority given to students who identify as student nurse midwife or professional midwife of color.

Eligibility Criteria for Application:
Nurse midwife or professional midwife student who plans to practice in Georgia
Student lives in the state, or is doing clinical training in GA
Student has not previously received this award
Enrolled in an accredited midwifery education program.
ACNM membership is not required to be eligible for this award.
Priority given to Black, Indigenous and students of color
Midwife student agrees to contribute to the affiliate in some way. Ideas include:
attending an annual meeting and report on your experience to the Affiliate
participate on a committee (within ACNM or outside) and report on experience
lending your expertise to a project of your choice for the affiliate

One of the priorities of the Georgia Affiliate of American College of Nurse Midwives is addressing racial equity and justice inside the profession and in the communities that we serve. In one to two pages, describe your journey to midwifery, or your vision to use midwifery to reduce health disparities, and improve the health of families of color in your community.
Describe how you think you might best contribute professionally to the Georgia Affiliate such as engaging with an affiliate leader mentor, participation on a committee of choice or preparing and presenting to the GA Affiliate a topic or experience. Applicants may also consider another way of lending their expertise that fits your schedule and aligns with your interests.
